In 2000, sixteen local women from Ghour Safi began a traditional craft journey under the guidance of an artist. Inspired by her teachings on the indigo plant, which creates an indelible blue color, these women began a home-based venture, using natural plant-based dyes and Dead Sea sand to extract eco-friendly coloring agents for textiles. Their dedication to the project led them to establish their own Women's Association and launch the textile initiative known as Safi Crafts. Today, their efforts have flourished, and they proudly export their creations to numerous businesses in the area. These women exemplify the spirit of innovation and community empowerment, breathing life into age-old traditions while adopting sustainable practices in textile production. Join them on their journey as they weave together a tapestry of culture, creativity, and environmental responsibility.
